Based in the Margaux district, Château Durfort Vivant has a second-class Medoc rating. This wine is the second wine made by the chateau.
There was a time when Durfort Vivant was acquired by the adjacent Medoc 1st class Chateau Margaux in 1937 and became a subsidiary.
Therefore, at that time, the first class Durfort Vivant was released as Margaux’s second wine, Pavillon Rouge de Château Margaux.
History began in the 1960s and was owned by the prestigious Bordeaux maker Lurton, but unfortunately it entered a long period of stagnation until Gonzag Lurton became the head of the family in 1992.
From the time of Gonzag, who continues to command, the wine cellar has been redesigned and the taste has changed to a modern style that incorporates modern brewing.
